Tender Bob's - Shangri-La Plaza
About This Spot
Stepping into Tender Bob’s at Shangri-La Plaza is like finding an old friend in the bustling heart of Ortigas. The restaurant welcomes you with an easygoing warmth, a spot where time slows just enough for conversation and comfort to take center stage. It’s the kind of place where the steady rhythm of city life feels a tad gentler, allowing the simple joy of sharing a meal to unfold naturally.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between relaxed and inviting, with a subtle nod to classic steakhouse charm that doesn’t feel dated or overly formal. Whether you’re settling in for a casual lunch escape or a cozy dinner with family or friends, the mood encourages lingering over conversations as much as it does savoring the food.
Food here is thoughtfully unpretentious but clearly crafted with care. You’ll find yourself drawn to dishes that offer hearty satisfaction without fuss—think ribs and steaks that arrive tender and juicy, sharing plates that invite communal enjoyment, and sides that add familiar textures and flavors to each bite. The experience isn’t about fancy plating but rather the genuine comfort that comes with good ingredients cooked well, enhanced by touches like vibrant dips or a thoughtfully balanced salad.
Many find themselves pleasantly surprised by how generous the portions are, making it a place where sharing feels natural and mealtime moderation is a choice rather than necessity. The pace is friendly but efficient, perfect for when you want a hearty meal without waiting too long, whether during a midweek lunch break or a leisurely evening out.
It’s also the kind of place that makes room for small delights—a refreshing calamansi juice, a rich chocolate dessert to share, or a perfectly crisp potato side that feels just right. These little moments add up to a dining experience that feels grounded in simple pleasures, where the familiar comforts of hearty, well-cooked fare foster connection and ease.
Tender Bob’s blends the straightforward pride of a neighborhood steakhouse with the easygoing energy of a local gathering spot, making it a welcoming choice for anyone looking to enjoy a timeless meal in the midst of the city’s pulse.

We were all happy with our orders. All the beef meals were really tender and juicy unlike other restaurants who serves dry beef. Potato skins were on point as well. I like that the dips are generous enough to have two flavors, cheese and sour cream. The only item that fell short was the clam chowder (was not able to take a picture of it). Something was off, not sure if had overcooked green peppers or bell peppers, or might old ones. But I like how it was served in a bread bowl. We were seated on the mall hallway, not sure if the mall AC was scars on that side or it was the pin light, either-way felt warmer while I was seated versus when we were walking around the mall. Overall they served good food with fast service, definitely a place that serves legit beef.

When your date only knows ‘you pick’ or if you’re stuck in option paralysis at EDSA Shang, Tender Bob’s is right there. Steak comes with sides, so don’t be like me and double up unless you’re really that hungry. Do you like yours medium rare too? And if you still have room, their Chocolate Fudge Sundae is a sweet way to end the meal.

Had dinner here with my family. Got the pork ribs, pork belly, roast beef, and chicken steak. For appetizers we got the potato hay and (not pictured) the calamares. Really impressed with the portion sizing at reasonable prices. We liked the food we got and honestly we felt like we couldve shared some meals. The food was served a lot quicker than we expected so if you want a quick meal as well, consider this resto. Overall vibe is good would go back for some ribs but I genuinely loved the chicken steak. They also have weekday promos which is worth it if you want something filling but worth it.

We often have either lunch or dinner here whenever we're at ShangriLa plaza. Probably one of the best, if not the best steakhouse in this area. Also, don't forget to order one of their soups(onion soup reco) We also ordered potato skin crisps as appetizer. I love that. Their ranch dip is one of my favorite ranch dips everywhere! End it with their signature Banana Split. Can be shared with 2 other friends at most. Not too sweet, and the blend is perfect for my buds. The staff is very helpful and quick as usual. My only caveat is the spacing between tables and chairs are too narrow. Despite having out-of-store dining tables. It's not a big deal, but if you're with big guys, this is a nuisance. Enjoy the photos below!

It's been a while since we have eaten at Tender Bob's. Must have been about a decade ago at their Greenhills branch. Funny, because when Bambi Meer and his family were starting out Meat Plus at Subic in the late 90's I was always there whenever there was a circuit race. Bambi loved cars and so did I. We would see each other at my car shop in ATC and on race weekends in Subic. Then, they brought Tender Bob's to Manila in 2000. Starting with their Libis branch, they now have 6. They also have Kettle and Fireside. On his own, Bambi has Koku, a Japanese restaurant in Makati. Food - 5*, their experience and expertise shines through with our orders of Ribeye Steak (₱675) and the phenomenal Braised Shortribs (₱725). And just because I needed a drink, I ordered a Coke (₱105). My wife stuck to her homemade Kombucha. With our senior discounts, from an original amount of ₱1,505 we paid ₱1,182.50. The privilege of being old haha. Simple is always great and Ribeye cooked with salt and pepper on medium doneness is hard to beat if you have fine meat. To vary the taste experience, my wife first ate the Ribeye on its own without condiments then added gravy, then gravy mixed in with the Tender Bob's Steak Sauce which she immensely enjoyed. I, on the other hand did not dare mess with the brilliance of their Shortribs because it was tender, succulent, meaty with the glorious mix of collagen rich tendon that practically melted in my mouth. Another plus factor was the homestyle mashed potatoes done from scratch. Other restaurants would resort to premixed ones or those that come in a box, not Tender Bob's and you would immediately notice and thank them for that. One thing I missed though was their superb Apple Pie Ala Mode. It wasn't available when we dined. It is interesting to note that the Meers have their own meat supplier from the US and before I remember them bringing in choice and quality meat through Subic Freeport. Now, I am no longer aware if it's still their practice. Service -5*, all their servers were attentive and willing to please. Special mention to their Store Manager, Gio, who has been with TB for 20 years and rose from the ranks. Speaks well of how they care for their people. He and I had a good chat. Atmosphere - 5*, clean, functional and homey with a diner vibe Parking - 4*, though there are many parking slots, I still am critical of the sharp turns, narrow ingress/egress of their ramps and the overall traffic along EDSA. Since I live in Makati, my solution is to park at One Ayala and take the MRT to Shaw and go down at the EDSA Shangrila Mall.
